  • I'm trying to get a handle on how to categorize the maps of Leventhal.

I was thinking 1) by century and perhaps 2) by location also? Reason: There's over 2,000 maps (many of BPL ) all chucked in the folders making it impossible to find any one and as the folder grows it become less useful with everything in one:

I tried to find all maps by searching "map bpl.org" and came up with over 4,500 potential images on Commons right now. I tried to come up with a small hierarchy so far: I was thinking continent > country > state/local region > municipality > localized event. There are some South American maps for example as there are some World Atlas maps. Which is why I thought tiered might work better. The aim isn't to keep these forever but it would help to add some type of proper BPL license templates to each of these maps. ► Maps of the United States by BPL > ► Massachusetts maps by BPL > Category:Boston maps by BPL

I'm using the NY PL as somewhat of a template only thing is everything is chucked in one folder and you can't find anything easily. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:NYPL_maps CaribDigita (talk) 00:42, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
