AiraBot

Operator: -- Felipe Aira

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Manually assisted; must manually approve every action before being applied

Programming Language(s): Pywikipedia

Edit period(s): Tommorow only, unless the need arises for me to use it.

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Yes

Functions: It will be modifying the templates for the files I automatically transfered here. This is due to the fact that the images' origin is the Tagalog Wikipedia, which had a recent policy change to move all images that are free to here, and our language code is tl. The automation process, the bot, used the template {{Tl}}, since it is our language iso code, instead of tgl. It needs to be replaced since tl here is template link, instead of Tagalog ({{Tgl}}).

Discussion

Just to make note, this bot is flagged and sometimes active at the Tagalog Wikipedia and the Tagalog Wikibooks. -- Felipe Aira 11:49, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's a shame that wasn't double-checked beforehand :( The changes sound fine to me -- how will you create the list of pages to edit? – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 11:57, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll use the category that all images moved from Tagalog to here share: Category:Files moved from tl.wikipedia to Commons requiring review. -- Felipe Aira 12:58, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, as another request can you please report that they should be using {{Tgl}} instead of {{Tl}}. I used this. -- Felipe Aira 13:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Left a note for Magnus. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 03:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May I start using it now? I am about to finish moving all free images from the Tagalog Wikipedia to here. -- Felipe Aira 10:05, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just finished moving all 92 of them. I know it's few. But Tagalog is a small Wikipedia. -- Felipe Aira 10:21, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS I am using it rigth now. -- Felipe Aira 13:08, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Right, all looks great, but... do you really need a bot flag? The images on that category are corrected; the code on the transfer bot will be corrected at some point, to add tgl instead of tl. So the need for a bot to do this work will shortly disappear. You are welcome to use the bot account without the flag to do those substitutions, and I'll happily give the flag anyway if necessary, but I just don't see the need for it right now. Yes, it seems this task is already complete. In the future, it would be easier to simply request one of the other botops to do something like this rather than wait for a whole botflag discussion :) – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 14:54, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
