  • Is it possible to combine this with all the other i18n changes like {{Own}} and {{date}}? Multichill (talk) 12:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but not *all* date formats can be converted. Although, my bot understands many of them. Also, there is ambigous dates, 01/02/2009 (January 2 or February 1?). --emijrp (talk) 10:09, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
  • My user:JarektBot often runs similar localization queries, when I am not using it for other tasks. But it is using AWB and works on batches of about 1k files. A designated bot for this task would be a very welcome addition. One point of concern is files which were renamed or transferred and use History section to store old revision history. People get upset when your bot starts edition those. I do not know if you handle that case already, if not I would suggest ignoring sections marked by <nowiki>. --Jarekt (talk) 18:15, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I handle those cases. emijrp (talk) 12:17, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Yeah, please combine this with some other functions if you can. I'm getting tired of seeing so many of these kind of mass bot edits for localization (the date thing is specifically annoying because they are for the most part understandable regardless of language). If we were all on the same page, this standardization would be a good thing, but until the upload forms, upload bots, and users start using the same format, it's a losing battle. Personally, I would rather have you remove these headers altogether. I do. I find them rather useless and they just add more clutter the image page (the anchors and [edit] links can be added in other ways for those who find them useful). The "Licensing" one in particular is redundant and a misnomer for PD stuff. Anyway, that's a discussion for a different time and place. And as Jarekt said, don't edit nowiki'd stuff. I hope my little comment isn't keeping this open longer than necessary. The bot's already flagged and has been doing this task the whole time (Which begs the question, what's the purpose of this request?) I do wish these bots could find something more productive to do. Localization is great, but really, how useful are these edits? The headers don't even need to be there at all. It's just busy work, IMO. Changing the upload form (and upload bots) to use these localized headers would be logical thing to do first, I would think... Rocket000 (talk) 00:48, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

The Bot now edits with about 40-50 edits per minute. That is in my opinion way to fast for a not so urgent task like this. -- 12:12, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

I think nationalisation is quite important and it is also important to have different people with different main languages for this job to cover all situation, but I must agree that the task is only of minor importance and that this bot should not edit with about 40 edits per minute. I personally think that 20 is even to high, that will only spam the watch lists. As there are now 3-4 bots that do this localisation (mine included ;-)), 10 Edits per Minute per Bot should be enough. --Schlurcher (talk) 12:49, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Edit rate reduced to 15 edits/minute. emijrp (talk) 14:44, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
You know your bot alone is responsible for 6.457% of all edits to Commons ever. :) Rocket000 (talk) 21:19, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
How did you calculate that percent? emijrp (talk) 11:23, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Wild guessing: With the edits of the bot divided by the total edits on commons. See Special:Statistics --Schlurcher (talk) 11:42, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I supposed, but I thought that 6% was a bad approximation, but it is correct. emijrp (talk) 20:17, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Yep, what Schlurcher said. Rocket000 (talk) 22:27, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

This request is now here for over a mounth, and I would suggest to approve it with a reduced edit rate of maximum 15, as there are imho no concerns and the bot is already doing the task for weeks. --Schlurcher (talk) 08:04, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Bot task ✓ approved. Kanonkas // talk // e-mail // 15:41, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Can you please change == Samenvatting == → == {{int:filedesc}} ==? ("Samenvatting" is dutch for "Summary") --Bouwe Brouwer (talk) 19:42, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
