Bot's tasks: I used to run a bot at toolserver gathering the info from WLM uploaded files. This included performing some page fixes when detected, like fixing identifiers, improving categorization (for ES), wrongly participating images, removing supercategories, empty categories, or removing the wlm template for late files. It was also used for mass-uploading the images provided through Flickr (in manual mode).

Update: I have been asked to help uploading to commons the images from the WLM-ES flickr group. I would prefer to do so using this account rather than my own (note: this should preferably be done with upload_by_url). That would be done with flickrripper from erfgoedbot. I have given it upload_by_url and uploaded a batch of those images without problems, it would be a matter of leaving it running until the 2964 files of [1] are uploaded. Platonides (talk) 00:00, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm quite uncomfortable with the procedure here. The bot request was created in August 2015 but was linked at the bot request page not until October. It seems there have never been edits made accorting to the original August request. At October 14 the operator himself assigned autopatrol to the bot account 6 days after extending the request, and the bot is running at full speed since then. Hi Krd, I agree with you that things haven't been done the way it should be have been done. The request was actually posted on October 8th and not earlier (7 weeks earlier when this page was created) by mistake. I think that we understimated the time needed to get this request through. On the other side we are talking about one of the most skilled and experienced bot operators / programmers around here and the task that was performed by the bot+operator was already done in past editions of WLM. The bot worked from October 8th to October 16th in test mode and on October 17th-18th we really under pressure to execute the image transfer from flickr to Commons in order to meet the photo contest delivery dates. Hello Krd,

I am glad of finally seeing some reaction on this request. That's pretty much its history. I opened this page on 30^th August 2015, getting a supporting opinion from one user. But it stalled for more than one month. Then, after I was asked to upload the WLM-ES 2015 flickr files to Commons, I noticed that it wasn't listed in Bots/Requests (maybe it didn't save, perhaps I forgot about that last step). That got a few more people to support the bot, albeit I had expected it would have brought more participation. After another 6 days, and having noone oppose it, I gave it the needed upload_by_url (not that I enjoyed much doing it myself), documenting this fact on the request page, and uploaded a few batches (it wouldn't have been practical to upload them directly due to the smaller bandwidth). All of this while keeping into account that the jury expected to have those files into commons before importing everything into the Polish jury tool (and starting judging), and the jury itself has a quite tight deadline for deciding the winners (as recently reminded by Lodewijk).

I ended up uploading most of the files last Saturday. I kinda expected someone to come up annoyed about those uploads with no flag, and having to wait for this request to clear up (for which no date was known). However, nobody seemed to care.

I received no complaint about it on my (or the Bot's) talk page, email nor through irc (where I was connected the whole time).

Last, after all those flickr images have already finished uploading (frankly, I expected it would have been much slower), this request finally has received some attention. I agree it wasn't the most stricted to the rules procedure, but that didn't seem too bad given the time constraints (and the people that were pressing me about getting the files to commons). I am happy to hear about any recommendation that you may have about how this could have been improved.

I don't consider it as asked too much to wait at least 7 days for community feedback, and I refuse that this request hasn't gotten attention; if you don't post it, who shall get aware of it?

I didn't see that it received attention, although I admit being already a bit tired of waiting after the incomplete listing. Of course, if Commons:Bots/Requests had said that requests are usually fullfiled after 7 days, I would have waited a bit more, but the time to wait was indefinite, and we were quite hurried with it, so it was convenient to work on it during the weekend. Note that there wasn't any other further edits until you replied on 20^th (12 days after listing), so waiting until Sunday wouldn't have made a difference.

Regarding to «tasks to do», WLM 2015 is now finished, so I won't be checking the wlm files this time (well, maybe if a country bugs me hard enough to check their files…), and wlm-es 2015 flickr is uploaded too. So it would mainly be useful for future editions.
