Welcome to File Requests

This page is a forum for requesting files from other Commons users for pages in Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia articles. Recent sections with no replies for 180 days and sections tagged with {{section resolved|1=--~~~~}} may be archived; for old discussions, see the archives.

Adding a request[edit]

  • First, try to find a file on your own (see help on public domain image resources.)
  • For a file of a specific location, it may be possible to contact someone near to the location and request that they take a photo. The nearest photographer tool can help to locate users who are near to specific locations.
  • Link to a page where you want the image to be placed.
  • If possible, include an external link to a picture about the request.
  • Sign your request in case there are questions (use ~~~~).

Conductor photos[edit]

Hi. In my sandbox over on Wikipedia, I am working on an expansion of the Sibelius choral symphony Kullervo. Three conductors that were important to the piece's history are: 1) Jussi Jalas, in 1958; 2) Paavo Berglund, in 1970; and, Kenneth Schermerhorn, in 1979. At present, Wikimedia does not appear to have an image for Schermerhorn; and, the images of Jalas and or Berglund are not particularly good, in that they contain other individuals. Would it be possible for someone with experience in image hunting and licensing to undertake this project for me? Preferably, the images (if possible) would be somewhat close to the respective dates listed above. Thanks 2604:2D80:5902:C00:C109:28C1:8817:BA89 22:45, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Chicago L 7000 series train[edit]

I’m looking for a replacement for the image on 7000-series (CTA) which is a rendering and is non-free. As they are currently being tested in Chicago, there are lots of photos of it available online, however, I am not able to find one that has a free license.

As they are currently testing and not in revenue service, they can be testing on any line on any day. However, if you ever spot a 7000 series train (whether it is on a main track or stored at a rail yard), it will be helpful if you can take a picture of it to upload onto Commons. Thanks! -- 16:29, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

We are currently working on that. It has been unexpectedly difficult to get a free file of the new train, but I promise you a new free file will pop up soon.Davidng913 (talk) 01:47, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Gare de Masson[edit]

The former train station in Masson, Qc suffered a roof failure this past spring due to snow accumulation and will be demolished. It would be interesting to have someone document the final condition of the station for use on Wiki projects before the demolition takes place. See Oaktree b (talk) 14:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

I would like to request an image of the logo for the company Sandvine. Preferably with "SANDVINE" written to the right, as seen on their website, but no text is also fine. I would like to use it in the infobox on this Wikipedia article. FreeToDisagree (talk) 12:54, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

User:FreeToDisagree hello do you happen to be from sweden? have you tried to look up some local photography group in malmö?
och fråga noen om et bild av kontoret til sandvine. även möjlighet at kontakta tidningen i malmö --Mathias -Ahoy (talk) 07:34, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Hello, and thank you for your suggestions. I do speak swedish, however, that might be a bit out of my comfort zone. I will consider it though. FreeToDisagree (talk) 16:44, 18 June 2021 (UTC)

Parliament Building (Quebec)[edit]

The article on Wikipedia is in need of the following images:

  • Zoom on the the new entrance to the National Assembly of Quebec (post-2019);
  • Zoom on the fountain of Abenaki (fontaine des Abénaquis) after 2019. Note. The fountain is the one closest to the building, not the one on the roundabout of the Honoré-Mercier avenue, which is the one extensively photographed.

Thank you in advance. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 13:09, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Photo of Bience Gawanas[edit]

[Gawanas] is a Namibian politician. I have no practice to organize photos and request therefore some help. Ressources with photos are:

Does it make sense to contact the United Nation? How could be the procedure? Is there anyone who can make a photo?

Thanks a lot in advance.--Weltenspringerin (talk) 15:40, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Images for the new main category Category:Pictograms on things[edit]

I have created a new category Category:Pictograms on things for images of pictograms applied on things in everyday life or special/professional applications. A few examples out of many millions in the world: Play-Symbol (Arrow) on CD/DVD/BluRay/MP3 Players, washing symbols in garment, symbols on all switches/knobs in cars, etc. Surprisingly, there were only categories for the depictions of those pictograms themselves (purely), but not for those applied in 'real life'. I made about 10 sub categories already and filled in a lot of files both newly taken by me and cropped from existing files, but there are about 99.9 % of all those existing pictograms still missing (joking). So I want to encourage to take photographs of such pictograms - which is both interesting and surprising, once you see that these little symbols are present virtually everywhere. New sub categories also very welcome, of course. Pittigrilli (talk) 09:06, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Degrassi actors[edit]

I am looking for freely licensed photographs of the following Degrassi actors:

And better quality images of these actors:

I have gone around attempting to ask other people, including actors involved in the franchise and other image copyright holders, but have either received no response, or a blunt denial of permission. If anyone has been at a public event and taken photos of these actors and are willing to upload them freely licensed that would be greatly appreciated. ToQ100gou (talk) 08:33, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Scan needed of Low Life: A Comedy in One Act (1925) by Mazo de la Roche[edit]

This is a call to the community to create a full scan PDF/DJVU of a very rare ~40 page script for a Canadian play first produced in 1925. There currently exists no scan of this anywhere on the Internet to be found. It went into the public domain in the US this year, and has been in the public domain in Canada since 2011. I also can't find anywhere online that I can buy this book.

Here are all the libraries where this text can be found:

In particular, those at the University of Georgia, those who live in New York City with access to the New York Public Library, or those who live in various areas of Ontario or Québec, see if you could upload a scan of this text to Commons? The text will be transcribed at Wikisource once this is done. Please and thank you. PseudoSkull (talk) 17:33, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Request retracted because I found a seller and I have proceeded to buy a copy. It should arrive within sometime less than a month. Hopefully this will work out. PseudoSkull (talk) 18:37, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Clifton Urban Forest[edit]

Hey there, I'm looking for a picture of the Clifton Urban Forest, an urban forest currently being planted and built at Clifton, Karachi. Could someone kindly get a photo of it (preferably with the rows of saplings in the photograph)? Thanks. RealKnockout (talk) 22:38, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
