I have uploaded an animation "Image:Snurra uppochner.gif" which does not run. It only shows the last frame. It works fine at my computer. I have checked other animated gifs on Commons and they work fine but I cannot see any difference to mine.

It work fine on your compouter with windows XP ? Vista ? With Firefox ? IE6 ?

Myself (Linux Ubuntu + firefox2) I'm also unable to see it work on this Graphic Village Pump page.

Looking at it （Image:Snurra uppochner.gif）, it work fine, but I notice it is 3.7 Mo huge !!!

After some tests, it seem for me to be an internal error of displaying gif, we already had such cases (some size work, some size don't work), and it may need to repport the bug to bugzilla. (what is the complete adresse of Bugzilla wiki ??) [User:Yug|Yug]] (talk) 23:03, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

SVG reversion oddity

I uploaded a new version of Image:Monty open door chances.svg, but due to incompatibilities between my version of Inkscape and the original uploader's, the text got clipped (it's also using a different font). I reverted to the earlier version, and while my additions are gone again, the text remains clipped (and in a different font). What gives?--Father Goose 06:31, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Try clearing your cache (ctrl+r in firefox); that was likely the reason the reversion still showed up as your image. -- Editor at Large • talk 22:44, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

SVG Text problem

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to SVG. I tried to draw en:Image:Event-horizon-particle.png in Inkscape, but the text isn't showing up on WP. But when you open it back up with Inkscape, it's fine. What's wrong here? tiZom_(2¢) 22:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

The problem svg being Image:Event-horizon-particle.svg? I think the problem may have had something to do with the text being on a path, but I am not sure. Red eyes

I have a few pics with red eyes I want to upload. I can reduce the red in some pictures, but others may be able to do it better. I am considering uploading the image with red eye and then upload (under the same name) the corrected image, to give an opportunity to others to fix the red. Is that fine, or should I just upload the red-eyed one, tag it with {{Redeye}}, and then wait until someone modifies the images? Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 19:07, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

The redeye category is not as well maintained as, for example, the rotate or remove border categories. I'd say upload the original, then your edited version over top, but still tag with {{Redeye}} to see if others can do a better job. This way we have images with no redeye for the time being but you still have a chance to have a better job done with the fixing :) -- Editor at Large • talk 19:24, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, that is fine; she looks human, so it is good enough! ;) A note as well; when uploading the new version over top you don't have to add the information template in the edit box, but you can use the box as a summary and put "red-eye removal" or "temp red-eye fix; if you can do it better feel free to try" or something of the sort. Is this worth a PNG version? Should it be SVG?

Compare Sisyrinchium-mucronatum.jpg and Sisyrinchium-mucronatum.png. Is it worth keeping the PNG version? It's pretty huge, but the JPG version definitely has artifacts. Should I replace the JPGs from this site with (enormous) PNGs and request that they be vectorized? grendel|khan 22:16, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Error creating thumbnail: Invalid thumbnail parameters

After uploading a 7150 × 4310 pixel png image, file size: 1.32 MB, I get the above error message. The file is at Image:Santa-Rita-NM-1919.png. I get the same message when I try the gif version of the same file. Image:Santa-Rita-NM-1919.gif. I notice, from a Google search of Wikipedia, that others have had this problem. SVG cache problem

I mistakenly uploaded an SVG containing a bitmap image that I used when creating the vector graphics. I deleted the bitmap image and uploaded again, and now the image seems to display OK except on the image description page where the (now non-existent) bitmap still shows through. Purging the cache (i.e., adding ?action=purge to the URL) makes no difference. Neither does re-uploading the SVG. Is there a workaround for this?

That would probably be a result of someone else (I know I tried a few times) purging the thumbnail successfully, or if there were cache problems of the cache catching up. -- Editor at Large • talk

Note that adding "&action=purge" to the url of the page only purges the cache of the page. The thumbnail is a separate image you have to purge; for that image it is located at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/57/Li6-D_Reaction.svg/512px-Li6-D_Reaction.svg.png . To purge the thumbnail you have to add "&action=purge" to the thumbnail url. This is how I did it and apparently it worked :) -- Editor at Large • talk 23:53, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Trouble with image description page

I found an image of a picture by Ilya Repin with a better quality than the existing one in Wikipedia Commons, so I tried to replace it. The problem is that after uploading the new picture, the image description page just does not show it, as seen here Image:Ilia Efimovich Repin (1844-1930) - Volga Boatmen (1870-1873).jpg. But the fact is that by clicking on the empty area we can check that the picture was actually uploaded:[1]. After several attempts trying to upload it again, things continue the same way. Fortunately, all the articles which link to this picture (they’re quite a lot) show the new version normally. How could I solve this problem? Thanks for your help. Bot needed to look for JPEGs masquerading as SVGs

Here's an SVG fractal that someone uploaded recently:

The antialiasing doesn't look very good, does it? It looks even worse when you enlarge the image:

In fact it isn't a vector image at all. It's just a JPEG embedded in a SVG file (which is considerably larger than the original JPEG image). You can check this for yourself if you look at the SVG source code. Obviously this defeats the whole purpose of SVG support. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other images like this lurking around. If they supersede existing images that are tagged for deletion (like in this case) then they might cause a few headaches if the deletion of superseded images is resumed. How difficult would it be for someone to built a robot to check for rogue files like this? -- Sakurambo 00:14, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

There atm 86908 svg images on Commons. However, this "feature" of SVG appears to be turned on recently. So I guess it is for anybody who knows a little XML not too hard to create a bot/script to collect all svgs that embed jpgs. -- Bryan (talk to me) 16:49, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

You need to fetch all svg's from Commons. Then all svgs that contain an <image /> tag. (Technically <image /> can also embed other svgs. You can test this by the mime type that is specified in the xlink:href attribute). If necessary I can help by giving a list of all svgs. -- Bryan (talk to me) 17:42, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Apparently, this SVG image includes 8 external PNG images (pathogen-alcoholic liver2_ImgID1.png through ..._ImgID8.png) which are not embedded in it. — Xavier, 01:31, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Can somebody change the name of this picture? I don't know how this should be done, so I can't do it by myself. In the summery to this image you can see, that "Hevajra" was meant, so writing "Hevraja" must have happend accidentally.
