Thanks for your participation! The 2011 winners have been announced!

POTY 2011 celebrating the best photos of the year.

The sixth annual Picture of the Year competition is an event where the images that became Featured Pictures during the (last) year are voted on by members from all Wikimedia projects, to produce a single Picture of the Year.

When can I vote?

Round 1 of POTY 2011 will run...
from 26 May 2012 23:00 [UTC]
until 7 June 2012 21:00 [UTC]
  • The first three days are beta testing period. Please check whether the voting script is working successfully.
  • Votes in the testing period — the first three days — are also eligible. The committee will count them as well as the votes cast in the later period.
  • If you find a bug for the voting tool, please report it to MediaWiki talk:EnhancedPOTY.js; report other things to Commons talk:Picture of the Year/2011.
Round 2
from 14 June 2012 20:00 [UTC]
has ended on Sat, 23 June 2012 21:00:00 [UTC].

Who can vote?

Only eligible users may vote. You need more than 75 edits before Sun, 01 Apr 2012 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC] in a single Wikimedia account. You must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another Wikimedia project related to Commons account through SUL.

Even if you have multiple eligible accounts, you can vote only from one account.

This year, voting is assisted by an App that requires JavaScript and storage enabled. By participating in POTY 2011 you agree that the App attempts to store data about your eligibility, which files you have seen and what you have voted for on your machine.
