AutoWikiBrowser access[edit]

Experienced AWB user on enwiki. Don't anticipate using it a whole lot on Commons, but there are certain tasks that would've been easier if I had access to do so. Specifically, Commons Commander is not, for whatever reason, including all user uploads making it difficult to recategorize all of my uploads to include a hidden user category. Thank you. — Rhododendrites talk |  19:22, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Work like this which I did laboriously with VFC about 6 months ago needs to be done again, on ~90 new files. It's too hard to do with VFC, as there's no applicable category. Thanks! --Elvey (talk) 16:42, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I am active in commons and interested in Patrolling new changes and pages. so, I want to become a patrol and contribute further to help commons. Thank you. BRPever (talk) 10:49, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Pictogram-voting-question.svg Question @BRPever: As a patroller of Commons, what edits should be patrolled and what edits should not? Are you going to patrol edits you aren't sure if they are acceptable? Should we patrol vandal edits after they are reverted? Thanks, -- Poké95 10:51, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
@Pokéfan95:I will mark anything that is appropriate for Commons as patrolled. In such edits in which I am not sure I will not mark them as patrolled because if they are not acceptable in commons other patrollers may not patrol it watching it has been reviewed by a patroller. Any vandal edits if they are done I will try to undo them and if the information or edit is useful and not a vandal I will mark it patrolled.-BRPever (talk) 14:18, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
@BRPever: Sorry for the late reply. I Symbol support vote.svg Support this request. But don't forget to patrol too the edit of a vandal after reverting it (for example, user Vandal edited Moon, which will be edit #1, then you revert that edit, which your revert will be edit #2. You will patrol edit #1 because it is already reverted, there is no reason to check it again). Thanks for volunteering for being a patroller! Face-smile.svg -- Poké95 09:54, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

I am an enwiki admin and volunteer mediawiki developer, I've implemented patrol of uploads, which has recently been deployed. I would like patroller rights for the sole purpose of viewing what can be patrolled, in order to fix a bug where certain reuploads can't be patrolled, see phab:T123747. I won't actually make use of patrol and will no longer need it once the bug is fixed. Thank you. Cenarium (talk) 20:54, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm an active SWMT Member here at commons, and I'm requesting right of rollback. I find myself in need of it when I patrol vandalism (when I come around here). Undo takes longer to rollback edit for some reason after I click "Publish" (some comment saying "We can't process your edit...". I currently hold admin permissions on three others wiki projects (four in a few days, maybe)), and I can identify vandalism through my work on SWMT, and the Dutch Wikipedia. I demonstrate a need since undo seems to be slower, and it would be pretty easy when it comes to just clicking the rollback button. Thank you. Atcovi (talk) 02:35, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Not done 154 edits. Please user smart rollback for now. --Steinsplitter (talk) 12:10, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

I am an AP user with robust cross-wiki activity and I am a polyglot. In the last few months I have become more and more interested in the revision of files here on commons: mainly descriptions, categories and sometimes I help users from local wikis with minor doubts (import, geographic coordinates, and copyright issues, this happens mainly in local talks or at the meeting with newbies). I am currently involved in a WMF grant about new image tools and therefore my presence here is only going to increase. Now, one of the thing I have asked constantly in the last months whilst working on commons is to rename files. I now the File renaming guideline, I have even left a comment on the talk page some months ago about it. I've spoken to two it-N filemovers, one personally (Pierpao) and one here in his talk (Ruthven), and they both agreed they see no reason why I shouldn't ask for this flag. I think it will speed up my work. Thank you. Alexmar983 (talk) 17:24, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Asaf (WMF)[edit]

I'm overseeing an intern's work at WMF and have had to request renames of several chart files just now. I would like to save the community's time, and think I can be trusted to rename appropriately. (this work account made very few contributions here; see my volunteer account for my contribution record. Thank you. Asaf (WMF) (talk) 19:27, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

I have uploaded many files over the years and would like this right so I can correct the filenames of my own uploads and the uploads of others. I've made a number of move requests recently and I'd like to participate in this work instead of merely adding to the workload of others. I've been active on Commons since 2006 and I've been an administrator (with a lot of experience with page moving and related tasks there) on since 2004. Thank you. Gamaliel (talk) 01:03, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
@Gamaliel: Not that it specifically reflects on your competence for this userright, but looking at your past requests... on December 25 you requested a rename, apparently using the RenameLink gadget, per "Criterion 10"... that criteria doesn't exist, and the gadget shouldn't let you do that (it actually parses the template transcluded in COM:RENAME). Any idea how that happened? I can't figure it out. Revent (talk) 12:54, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
That is odd. It seems pretty clearly a criteria 3 move, so I don't know why I would have manually entered a non-existent criteria instead of just selecting the correct one from the dropdown menu, if that is how it happened. Sorry, I have no idea. Gamaliel (talk) 17:45, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Maculosae tegmine lyncis[edit]

I have made c.3k edits over the last four years, including many uploads, and would like to be able to correct any mistakes in my uploads without bothering existing file movers and also make occasional amendments to others' files, eg to make file names more specific in Category:Takahashi Yuichi, where there are several of his paintings of salmon - for these I would like to include which collection the painting is in within the file name; I envisage most of my efforts will continue to be in uploading, along with further categorisation, and some renaming. Thank you. Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 00:11, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

✓ Done I added the flag to your volunteer account as well. --Steinsplitter (talk) 10:49, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

It's really just a matter of having frequent occasion to move a file (almost invariably ones I've uploaded or transferred from Flickr), and feeling like I might as well just do it myself. It also seems highly likely I'd have some time to help out with other people's renames once in a while. My edit count isn't huge, but past the guideline above this section (and I've moved plenty of pages on Wikipedia, if that counts for anything). I'll be happy to better familiarize myself with the procedures for various situations before actually undertaking any such move, of course, but as I said it's primarily for straightforward moves of new files. Thank you. — Rhododendrites talk |  02:58, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
