I am part of Tamil wiki community, planning to run a media contest for Tamil wiki projects and we intend to use Upload campaign and customize it. Request you to please to help us know the procedure to get the flag and start the campaign. Thank you. Sodabottle (talk) 16:36, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
  • I have no idea who can give this right, I only know that as an administrator, I cannot. Only people that can might be the stewards on Meta, as Special:ListGroupRights doesn't say local 'crats can, either. (Said without comments on the merits of the request, just the technical side of doing it.) Courcelles (talk) 19:45, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you Courcelles. I have raised a request in Meta.--Sodabottle (talk) 00:12, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
  • I see no issue with the request - except the concern that the user may have limited experience on Commons. But given the nature of the request, much experience isn't really needed. I do wish to point out that you can complete a campaign request draft and ask any admin to implement it. --Bencmq (talk) 08:20, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure who added the option to request this right. As far as I know this hasn't been implemented yet on a technical level and on a community level. Asking on meta won't do you any good. Until we properly implement this only admins can manage these campaigns. So  Not done for now. Multichill (talk) 08:48, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
If I understand you correctly, MultiChill, you are saying that some additional technical infrastructure and community protocols need to be created. I just spent an hour trying to figure this out by reading documentation and failed. Can you describe what is needed? Or, perhaps we should implement this differently, in a way that doesn't need a new kind of right? This is probably not the appropriate venue so we could discuss it at Bugzilla31903, which the petitioner here just created. NeilK (talk) 15:17, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I apologise if i broke any rules by adding this section at the end. I will complete a campaign draft and ask in the commons notice board for an admin to help us out and run the campaign for us.--Sodabottle (talk) 10:35, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
For what it's worth and I might be wrong: The two current members in this group (seems to be WMF staff) has assigned themselves that user right ([1][2]). --MagnusA (talk) 04:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
