You're leaving out some necessary steps. Where is the "abdul haque chowdhury" pic that you want uploaded located? The URL, for example? We need to know what its copyright status is... AnonMoos (talk) 19:45, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I assume you mean the file you uploaded, File:আবদুল হক চৌধুরি।.jpg. You may have taken the photograph yourself, but this seems to be a photograph of a printed photograph. You need to clarify the source and author of the printed photograph, or it will need to be deleted. Rd232 (talk) 20:15, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Book 'México Natural'

Hi! We want to upload only written information concerning a new book. How can we upload it, or write it down into the wikipedia.

Thanks in advance ;)

If you want to write an English Wikipedia article about a book, go to Wikipedia Article Wizard. Rd232 (talk) 21:03, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

how do i use wizard to put metadata in template:photograph? for example [1] Slowking4†@1₭ 02:34, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to do this within the Wizard. You have to do it after uploading, possibly by copying and pasting the blank template from the template:photograph page. Rd232 (talk) 15:34, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

request of license

I want to add the photos of Megumi Nakajima on Wiki Commons because I already ask a permission from the copyright holder. What is my next step in order to make sure that those images I'll be added are free and not copyright although I'm not a copyright holder?

Please forward the permission to the Mail adress stated at com:otrs. Thank you for your work. --McZusatz (talk) 11:15, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

How do I link an uploaded image to a wikipedia article?

Hi, I am a wildlife photographer, I would like to start uploading files in Commons as free contribution for the relevant Wikipedia articles on the animals. But I dont know how to link the uploaded image to the relevant article, or maybe someone else has to do that, after checking quality etc?

You've received a reply at Commons:Help desk#‎Linking a recently uploaded image to a Wiki article. Please don't post the same question in several places. LX (talk, contribs) 13:13, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

-- 14:20, 24 December 2012‎ User:Leafarant

This appears to be about a forthcoming book, not images to be uploaded. If so, we can't really help you here. AnonMoos (talk) 14:29, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Problem with Uploaded Image

I uploaded this image but the default preview doesn't display properly. The 800x532 preview shows only the white question mark in blue square in the transparent window. When I select other sizes, they do display correctly. When I try to use this image in an info box, it doesn't resize to the value specified. I tried uploading it again but that didn't help. Any thoughts on what I did wrong? Thanks! Skeet Shooter (talk) 23:24, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

You do nothing wrong. It's the wiki servers. --McZusatz (talk) 23:39, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Do you think I need to request deletion of the image or will things get fixed on their own? Skeet Shooter (talk) 01:52, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
This problem is only fore "some" users. (I can see the image fine). Deleting the page won't change anything. Just be patient a bit. --McZusatz (talk) 10:33, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
Will do. Thanks and Merry Christmas! Skeet Shooter (talk) 15:29, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Skeet Shooter -- this image has already been discussed on Commons:Village pump... AnonMoos (talk) 22:20, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, AnonMoos. An interesting problem that will hopefully be fixed soon. Skeet Shooter (talk) 16:38, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Uploading a cropped version of an existing file

I would like to use an existing file in an article on Wikipedia, but in a cropped version. I have cropped it on my (Mac) computer using Preview, but I don't know how to tell the upload wizard that all the rights information is already on the uncropped file, and to associate the two versions with each other. Thanks for your help. Hamblin (talk) 11:40, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

There is more than one way to do:

--McZusatz (talk) 11:55, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm cropping a png, so I can't use cropbot. I'm trying to use derivativeFX. I'm on the page and I don't know what "destination filename" means. Hamblin (talk) 13:52, 27 December 2012 (UTC) Whatever I type, I get the message: Destination filename doesn't exist. I would like to use the original filename with "cropped" added. I also get a message saying I should complete the author information for the original. The original uploader is on there, and the original source author is unknown, so what could they want? Hamblin (talk) 17:59, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
✓  Destination filename doesn't exist. is not an error. It says that the new name is free. Would be great if you provided us with a link to the source file, so we can have a look at the author information. Nevertheless it should upload the file regardless of the previously mentioned "errors". --McZusatz (talk) 18:08, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
The source file is File:Wallack's Theatre, from Robert N. Dennis collection of stereoscopic views.png. Hamblin (talk) 18:38, 27 December 2012 (UTC) I just tried uploading without the author info but I got an error message asking me again to do it. Hamblin (talk) 18:45, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I think that is some general problem with DerivativeFX just select your edited file again and uplaod again on the next page. --McZusatz (talk) 18:49, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't understand what you're telling me to do. Whenever I click on "Upload," I get a pop-up from that says please complete the author information, with a button to click: "OK". Hamblin (talk) 19:04, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
My bad. Sorry for that. You should complete the
 *derivative work: McZusatz
in the Summary field of deri3.php . --McZusatz (talk) 19:35, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Before I had a chance to see your last response, I tried Option number 1 from the 3 you suggested, and it worked! Thank you very much! Hamblin (talk) 19:57, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

I uploaded another cropped (by me) version of an existing file, destination filename File:View on Broadway, New York, from Robert N. Dennis collection of stereoscopic views cropped.png. On the new page for the file, there is a {{int:license-header}}, and I don't know why. What should I do? Thanks for your help. Hamblin (talk) 18:47, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

You already have a licence. Either put the licence tag down to the licence-header or remove the whole licence-header section. --McZusatz (talk) 22:45, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Tommasucci. I'm italian„“, so i'm sorry for the bad english. How can I get the license of an image? Please someone answer me. Who answers me'll put it in my list of myths :-)!!! Thank You.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tommasucci (talk • contribs) 19:16, 23 December 2012‎ (UTC)
A copyright license is a way for the copyright holder of a work to specify who may use their work and how they may use it. So to obtain a license for an image, you'd have to ask the copyright holder. The copyright holder is usually the work's author, which means the person who created the work, such as a photographer or painter. If you could tell us what image do you have in mind and who created it, we might be able to provide a more specific answer. LX (talk, contribs) 21:18, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I've some pictures taken from various episodes of "There She Is!!" .It's an korean animated series by SamBakZa. It's very famous and I write the page with its history on Wikipedia: l'enciclopedia libera. I have uploaded this images on Wikimedia but after a short time has been erased.

I can't understand how to get the copyright.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tommasucci (talk • contribs) 21:33, 23 December 2012‎ (UTC)
Most likely, you will not be able to get the copyright holder to release those pictures under a free license, so you should not upload them. Please read Commons:Project scope/Summary, part of our First Steps guide, to understand what types of files you can and cannot upload here. LX (talk, contribs) 21:49, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Note that the Italian Wikipedia does allow some non-free uploads, which may include stills from television like these. See it:Wikipedia:EDP per for details. However, you will have to upload them directly at Italian Wikipedia (it:Special:Upload), rather than here at Wikimedia Commons. See meta:Non-free content for other projects that allow this. Refugio en la tormenta (refuge from the storm)

( Productora Vista Film International)

Do you have images or publicity stills from the film that you want to upload under a free license? If not, this would all appear to be somewhat irrelevant... AnonMoos (talk) 19:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
