Wiki Loves Earth Bangladesh 2025
Wiki Loves Earth Bangladesh 2025 is the Bangladeshi edition of the global Wiki Loves Earth photography competition.
Take part by taking photos or videos of natural protected areas in Bangladesh and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons. The aim is to highlight the country’s rich biodiversity and natural heritage.

How can I take part?
Create a user account: If you do not have a user account for the Wikimedia projects, you can create one here: Create account
- It is possible to do this without including an email address. However, email addresses are needed for notifying winners, and allowing us to contact you to ensure that your photo is eligible. Email addresses are not visible to WLE organisers nor to others.
Find a subject: In Wiki Loves Earth, only photos that were taken within a protected area, including close-ups of a species (plant or animal) found in that area, are eligible.
- Find your local protected areas. These include national parks, eco-parks, wildlife sanctuaries and more. Please check that these areas are open to the public before visiting and avoid disturbing local wildlife.
Go out and photograph! With this competition we want to capture the beauty of nature without endangering it. So please ensure that you adhere to the rules of behaviour in the protected area.
- Do not destroy plants or disturb animals.
- Adding coordinates is optional but helpful. Use a GPS-enabled camera or your phone, or note the location manually and add it later.
Upload: Photos can be uploaded for the competition from 1 July until 31 July 2025. It does not matter when the photos were taken.

N.B.: All pictures must be uploaded between 1st July and 31st July 2025. You may upload older photos if they meet the criteria, but uploads are only accepted during the competition period.
Prizes
- National Level (Bangladesh)
The national jury will carefully evaluate submissions from Bangladesh and select the top entries. The 15 best photos will represent Bangladesh at the international level. Locally, top contributors will receive:
- Exclusive Wikimedia-themed souvenirs
- Spotlight on Wikimedia blogs and social media — gain visibility for your photography across the Wikimedia movement!
- International Level
If your photo makes it to the global top 20, here’s what awaits you:
- Gift vouchers (e.g., Amazon or other online shops) — value depends on your ranking
- WLE-branded souvenirs
- Official certificate of achievement
- Diploma of participation
- Invitation to a virtual international award ceremony
Winners in special categories will receive everything listed above except the gift vouchers.
Rules
The full WLE rules can be read at Wiki Loves Earth 2025/Rules. In short, to be eligible for a prize each image must be:
- at least two megapixels
- taken by the person uploading the file
- of a protected area in Bangladesh – including flora and fauna from the area
- described with name of the site/species and location info if possible
- uploaded between 1 July and 31 July 2025

Judging criteria
The jury will determine the winners of the contest by taking into consideration the following criteria (in no particular order):
- Technical quality (sharpness, light, perspective, etc.)
- Originality
- Usefulness of the image for Wikimedia projects
Images selected as top entries will often meet the technical standards for Featured Pictures at Wikimedia Commons. Submit many images — let the jury decide!
