About the Campaign
Wiki Loves Earth Kuwait is an international photographic campaign that encourages people to document and digitally preserve Kuwait’s natural heritage including protected areas, nature reserves, national parks, wildlife, desert landscapes, and biodiversity sites—by contributing high-quality images to Wikimedia Commons. Organized by the Wikimedians of Kuwait User Group, Wiki Loves Earth Kuwait was first launched in 2025. In its inaugural edition, two photographs from Kuwait received awards, highlighting the country's unique natural environments.
- Main Categories:
- macro/close-up: animals, plants, fungi.
- landscapes: Nature reserves, landscape conservation areas, national parks, scenic/landscape areas, remarkable gardens
- Special Categories:
- Human Rights and Environment: Humans interacting with, protecting, restoring, or harming natural environments through activities such as sustainable livelihoods, ecosystem recovery, environmental advocacy, and resource use, while highlighting how environmental issues—including climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, habitat destruction, and ecosystem disruption—affect human health, well-being, wildlife, and the future of both people and the planet (For example, participants can capture activities such as fishing, harvesting agricultural crops, farming, waste collection campaigns, oil well burning, or pollution).
- Video nomination: Participants can submit videos the same way they submit photos, for more.

Original Work
Photos must be your own work. No watermarks allowed. Photo must an identified natural monument / natural park / protected area
Specific Period
Upload must occur during the contest period (15 June 2026–31st July 2026) by the photographer.
License
License under CC-BY-SA 4.0, CC-BY 4.0, or CC 0.
Quality Standard
Minimum size of 4MB/4Mpx. High quality preferred.
🏆 Prizes
Local Prize
The following prizes will be awarded to the top 20 winners at the national level:
- 1st Place: USD 300
- 2nd Place: USD 200
- 3rd Place: USD 100
- 4th Place: USD 50
- 5th Place: USD 50
- 6th Place: USD 50
- Participants ranked 7th to 20th place will receive a digital certificate of recognition for their outstanding contributions.
- Video nomination: USD 50 for the Best Video Award, this prize may be withdrawn if the submitted videos do not meet the criteria.
International Prize
In addition to the local awards, the top 15 local winners from Kuwait will be submitted to the international Wiki Loves Earth competition for consideration in the global judging process. Winners will receive vouchers for Amazon or other online shops; the value depends on the participant's place.
