These are notes from a Skype meeting held between Lodewijk (Effeietsanders), Maarten (Multichill), Elke (Elya), Tomasz (odder), and Barbara on Thursday, April 26, 19:00—21:15 (UTC).

Topics discussed[edit]

Technical issues[edit]

  • Maarten needs help with preparing documentation on the monuments database; Tomasz will help him do that, hopefully (there is an AP already);

Participating countries[edit]

  • We discussed our knowledge about the state of preparations in all possible countries extensively, and have updated our internal spreadsheet with the data. Some countries are doing pretty well, some don't; we also divided some tasks into the group, and will try to state as closely in touch as possible with the countries.

Communication[edit]

  • In order to cover the contest trough specific media, we should start far earlier with the press releases; some magazines do only have 4 issues a year which means it takes time to get an article launched.
    • Wikimedia Deutschland's press department is willing to support us with research and press releases in German.
    • AP Lodewijk: Ask MiraMedia (who works from the samer office as WMNL) about a possible help?
    • AP Lodewijk: Also contact Matthew Roth (WMF).
  • Lodewijk had a short chat with Itzik about good stories to put in a video. Itzik will advise what content is useful, we will look for volunteers to create the video. If no one available, professional help will be looked for.
    • Wikimedia Italia is going to create a tutorial (screencasts), language neutral as possible. Possible date: August.

Website[edit]

  • The website is outdated, and we need to spend some time on it; Lodewijk sent an e-mail about it.
  • Elke needs SSH/FTP access to the server hosting the website (AP Maarten).
    • Who could host the website this year? Wikimedia Labs (not likely), WMNL? (AP Elke)
  • We need a Wordpress update an a backup (AP Elke).
  • Barbara will send suggestions for style/target groups.
  • Lodewijk is our website update volunteer for now!
