Rules

There are a few rules for photos to participate in the international contest. These rules are also adopted as rules for participation on a national level. Every submission should be:
- Self taken and self uploaded;
- Uploaded in September 2023;
- Freely licensed;
- Contain an identified monument;
- Nominated through a national contest
Next to that, there is a practical requirement:
- The participant must have an activated email address on Wikimedia Commons. No email address may result in your submissions being disqualified. This can be created in just a few minutes.

Zambia's first
In 2023, Zambia will be participating in Wiki Loves Monuments for the first time, joining over 50 other countries in the competition. This presents an exciting opportunity for Zambians to showcase their rich cultural heritage by taking pictures of the country's monuments and heritage sites, including historical buildings, statues, parks, and landmarks.
The event will run for the entire month of September 2023, during which participants will be invited to upload their photographs of monuments and heritage sites to Wikimedia Commons. A panel of judges will then select the best images based on their quality, composition, and representation of the monument or heritage site.
