It is with a heavy heart that we start Wiki Loves Monuments in Russia 2024. The genocidal war launched by Russia against Ukraine has been going on for 2.5 years with no end in sight. Under these circumstances, we do not feel it is the right time to promote Russian cultural heritage, but we still see the need to document it, because many of the historical sites in Russia see their last years, neglected and abandoned while more and more resources are spent on the war machine.
This year we will not submit Russian photos into the international round, but we nevertheless invite the participants to upload photos of Russian cultural heritage for the local competition. Detailed information is available on our landing page. |
