Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2026 in Egypt

Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photographic competition to promote historic sites around the World through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). Everybody can participate. By submitting your photos to the competition, you share and help preserve the cultural heritage of Egypt for all Egyptians and the rest of the world, to enjoy through the internet.
During the competition period, you may upload as many pictures as you want of cultural sites that you have visited. Pictures don't have to be taken during the month, but must be uploaded during that month to be considered. Use the special upload link (blue button) to upload your photos (or when you upload via another tool provide your photo with {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2026|eg}} template). At the end of the month, the contest jury will begin evaluating the photographs and will choose the best 10 pictures of the monuments in Egypt, and ultimately in the world.

Competition rules
We try to keep the competition clean and easy to participate in. There are only a few rules for photos to participate in the contest in Egypt. Let's quickly go through them.
All entries must be your own work; do not manipulate original images and make sure that there are no visible watermarks.
All photos must be uploaded between September 1 and Septmper 30, 2026, to be eligible.
All photos must be under a free license.
Participants must have an active email account.
Lists of eligible sites are published below.
Captions and description are required.
Make sure that you are not uploading duplicate images.
All photos must have at least 2Mpx.
Next to that, there are a few practical rules and advice:
Sign in or create an account on Wikimedia Commons.
Name your photos well.
Upload images.
Do not forget to add categories to your picture – it will be helpful to everyone looking for it!

Prizes
The Egyptian Jury will select up to 10 images, and the winners will participate in the international selection.

- 1st prize: 300 USD
- 2nd prize: 200 USD
- 3rd prize:100 USD
The Jury
Judging criteria
The jury will determine the winners of the international contest taking into consideration the following criteria (in no particular order):
- Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective, etc.);
- Originality;
- Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.
Images that reach a top ranking of the international finale, will typically at least fulfill the technical criteria of the ‘Featured Image’ process at Wikimedia Commons. But feel free to submit many images, and let the jury be concerned if they are good enough.
