About

Wiki Loves Monuments is the world's largest photography competition. This is its Albanian edition, creating a free, high-quality photographic record of the protected cultural heritage of Albania and Kosovo — including bridges, religious monuments, archaeological sites, traditional houses, and more.

A three-person jury selects the best photographs based on creativity, image processing and technical quality, including sharpness, lighting, perspective and composition. Every photograph must show a protected cultural heritage monument in Albania or Kosovo and be your own work. The best photographs from each country will then represent Albania and Kosovo in the international competition.

Prizes

First place€300
Second place€200
Third place€150
Six prizes in total, awarded separately in Albania and Kosovo, in the form of gift cards.

Rules

I
You need a Wikimedia account with a verified email address.
II
The photograph must be your own work — you must have taken it yourself.

IV
The photograph must be uploaded between 1–30 September 2026. It doesn't matter when it was taken.

Questions

Do I need to be a professional photographer?
Not at all. Everyone is welcome, whatever your experience. Even without winning, your photograph documents something worth keeping and stays free for anyone to reuse.
How many photographs can I upload?
As many as you like. There is no limit.
Can I edit a photograph before uploading it?
Basic corrections to light and colour are fine. Just don't overdo it — this is a photography competition, not a photo-editing one.
My camera doesn't record coordinates. Is that a problem?
No. Write what the photograph shows and where it is, and add an approximate location by hand if you can.
Can my photograph be used on Wikipedia?
Yes, and that is rather the point. Once it is on Wikimedia Commons it can illustrate articles in any language.
What happens after the national round ends?
The jury selects the winning photographs, and the best of them go forward to the international round, where an international jury judges them against entries from every participating country.
