Commons:Wiki Loves Pride 2026 in Ireland
Wiki Loves Pride is an annual photography campaign that adds images representing LGBTQIA+ culture, history, and communities to Wikimedia Commons and related Wikimedia projects including Wikipedia and Vicipéid.
This year, participants in Ireland are invited to photograph and share images that document queer life, past and present — from community events and parades to historical landmarks and everyday moments of queer experience.
All submitted photos will be openly licensed and will improve representation of LGBTQI+ topics across Wikimedia projects in both Irish and English.
How to participate

2. Create a user account: If you do not have a Wikimedia user account, you can create one here.
Email addresses are needed for notifying winners, and in case you forget your password. Your email address will not be visible to other Wikipedia users.
3. Find a subject:
Photos can include:
- Pride events and community gatherings
- Monuments, memorials, and heritage sites
- Queer spaces, past and present
- Art, activism, and protest
- Everyday life, culture, and creativity
4. Go out and photograph
Please respect the privacy and consent of individuals in your photographs. If photographing events or people, always ask for permission. When taking photos in public places, be mindful of local regulations. If using a drone, know the local regulations and adhere to them.
5. Upload your image to Wikimedia Commons

Photos can be uploaded from 1 June until 31 August 2026. It does not matter when the photos were taken. Make sure to tag your photos with the correct category: Wiki Loves Pride 2026 in Ireland to enter the competition.
6. Spread the word and invite others to enter using the hashtag #WikiLovesPride2026.
You can upload as many eligible pictures as you like.

A Wikipedia editing workshop in partnership with Pride of the Déise, now in its third year in Waterford. Participants will create and improve Wikipedia articles on LGBTQ+ people, history, and culture. The session runs bilingually in Irish and English; writing is open to all languages. No prior Wikipedia experience is needed. Laptops and devices will be available on the day, or bring your own.
Out of the Archive + Into the Record | Dublin

A full-day public event at the National Library of Ireland, in partnership with the NLI and the Irish Queer Archive. The day includes archive talks from historians and archivists, access to special collections, a hands-on Wikipedia editing workshop, and a community meitheal editing marathon with live impact tracking. Lunch is included. There is also an optional Dublin queer history photo walk, with photographs eligible for entry into the Wiki Loves Pride 2026 photo competition.
