Wiki Loves Public Space 2017 in Belgium is a photo contest in Belgium during the Summer months July and August 2017. During the contest you are welcome to upload photos from the public environment, including modern buildings, public artworks, cultural heritage monuments and memorials that are situated in Belgium.
Participate by uploading photos from Belgium and enrich Wikipedia!
The photo contest is possible for the first time during the full summer thanks to the law change on 15 July 2016. On that day Freedom of Panorama came into force which allows everyone to take photos of modern buildings and public artworks and publish them freely. Before this date, you had to ask permission from the architect or designer before you could legally publish your photos.
The most famous example was the Atomium. Before 15 July 2016 we only could show a censored photo of the Atomium on Wikipedia, thanks to the law change on Wikipedia we now can show a photo of the national icon of Belgium.
This photo contest is organised by volunteers from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Belgium.
