The translation is not perfect yet, but I hope it can be used as a starting point. I would need to know the values for {NAME} to smoothen the translation, otherways it may look strangs at some points. --Matt314 22:27, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

What is NAME?[edit]

What is {{NAME}} ? I need to know if it is singular or plural, if it is masculine or famale gender. It is difficult to do translation without knowing were the text will go. -- AnyFile 10:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Similar problem for ['notvoted'] = u'(not voted)'.
and in votecaption, is it the noun or the verb? -- AnyFile 10:12, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
{{NAME}} is Picture of the Year 2007. (not voted) will be behind a category you have not voted for. For example: Animals (not voted). votecaption will be put in the table above the checkboxes you select to vote. So I guess it's a verb (vote for this image). Thank you for taking the time to translate. -- Bryan (talk to me) 18:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

About {{NAME}}[edit]

Ok, that may not have been such a good idea of mine, please replace it by the localized version of Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year 2007. Thank you all for your time. -- Bryan (talk to me) 18:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Scrennshots with russian text[edit]

Please add russian language (are translated) into tools and please generate screenshot with russian text for Image:Poty2007 voting 2.png. Thanks! --Kaganer 15:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. See Image:Poty2007 voting 2 (ru).png. Maybe also needed localisation of navigation left pane and category names ? --Kaganer 13:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Category names[edit]

Are you planning to provide translations for categories names? It would look better on the voting page and would provide better user experience for translated UI. It would be good to use localised version of {{NAME}} as well. mfx Q&A 17:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

{{NAME}} can be removed and changed for the localized version. I changed the English version accordingly I think. Localized category names would be cool, but I don't know whether I have time to implement it. If you can program Python or know somebody who can, let me know and we can work something out. -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:34, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Bryan, I have not written much in Python lately but I dare say I am rather proficient in languages like C#, Perl, Java or PHP so I think I should be able to help. I believe translated category names would greatly improve voting experience for non-English speakers which makes it worth implementing with little extra effort. I am ready to uptake that task. mfx Q&A 22:15, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

I added an invite2 i18n. This will be added above invite when invites for the final round are sent. -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:35, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

About {{LINK}}[edit]

Since there are now translated versions of pages like {{LINK}}/Voting - can this too be replaces by a direct link (like the {{NAME}} token)? I can see the profit of having it as a token/variable and don't think it would be feasible / sensible to substitute the base URL for various languages. mfx Q&A 22:40, 10 December 2007 (UTC) BTW. I presume you watch changes to translations' pages.

Make it {{LINK}}/Voting/pl and redirect that page to the translated voting page. See also. -- Bryan (talk to me) 11:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

About {{LIMIT}}[edit]

I found a mistake in the translation of the software text and corrected it in this edit on 2007-12-22T15:27:43. Will you correct it on the software, too? Thank you.--miya 09:17, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't think we have translated names in the software, which would be more useful, but hey, hopefully next time... --pfctdayelise (说什么?) 07:08, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
