- I'm wondering about the usefulness of this.
- Since WikiProjects would each tend to be monolingual, mightn't it be better to many such potential projects part of the respective language Wikipedias? In practice, I've found that the WikiProjects on en-wiki have been very useful for (for example) helping to identify photos.
- On the other hand, I can see this as very useful for projects whose subject-matter areas cut across the types of categories likely to exist on the various Wikipedias: e.g. classification of stereo cards, Commons categorization, handling bodies of material from a particular source, etc. - Jmabel ! talk 17:03, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't understand. Commons already has a lot of WikiProjects running (see Category:WikiProjects), and this page is only to describe what they are and their purpose, I don't see why that is not useful... Rehman 23:56, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Project templates on File talk pages[edit]
I recently created the Commons version of WikiProject Dacia (en) and WikiProiectul Dacia (ro) and I am wondering if it is ok to have a template like Template:WikiProject Dacia on Commons. I am not sure if all functionality can be supported but at least a subset of it could be very useful. For example, it would be great if such a template could categorize articles based on a flag in a category corresponding to en:Category:Dacia articles needing attention, as it works on EN Wikipedia. As another example it could mark pictures with archaeological object who would benefit by a migration from {{Information}} to {{Artwork}}, and/or make those images/objects which are missing discovery date, current location etc. I haven't seen yet such templates, although some projects like Lights Camera Wiki have a template like: {{LightsCameraWiki}} Any thoughts? --Codrin.B (talk) 18:19, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
