Why India is not participating? Cuteshreya (talk) 11:31, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Cuteshreya. Are you interested in organizing WLM in India? :) --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 06:19, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Just wait for WCI to end. Will try to see if WLM can be conducted. -- Naveenpf (talk) 11:01, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Keep me in the loop if this becomes an option Naveenpf, please. Karthikndr may be interested to help, too. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 01:35, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi, we (Wikimedia Community Malta User Group) are planning to organise Wiki Loves Monuments in Malta for the first time this September. We would greatly appreciate any help/support that anyone can provide. --Nevborg (talk) 07:53, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi Nevborg. This is great. :) Please add Malta to the list of definitely participating countries. It's most efficient if we can set up a half hour Skype/Hangout/Phone call for me to go over everything with you (and your team), of course if this works for you. Please send me an email at with few day/times that work for you. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 17:21, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Ohio Loves Monuments[edit]

Hi there! I'm Kevin, a local organizer in the US state of Ohio and a member of the Ohio Wikimedians User Group. I hope it's not too late: we are considering hosting an Ohio Loves Monument Event. The United States is currently split into several chapters and user groups, making national efforts broad and difficult. However, the Ohio Wikimedians User Group hosting Ohio Loves Monuments event could allow us to concentrate efforts to our network, and also collaborate with local institutions (such as the Ohio History Connection). I know the event traditionally is organized on a national level, but would state-level be fine? Thanks, ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 21:41, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Update: We've created a page for the event and started assembling various resources. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 05:45, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi Kevin Payravi. We are happy to see that Ohio is going to participate, and to answer your question: yes, state-level participation works in this case. This is also a great opportunity to encourage the other states in the U.S. to sign up for participation. If you know anyone in other chapters/user groups, please ping them. :) Also, if you'd like to have a chat about what you should do in the coming 12 days, please send me an email and we can arrange a time to talk. Looking forward to seeing the photos from Ohio. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 05:19, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
@LilyOfTheWest: Thank you, much appreciated! I'll chat with other organizers in the US and see if they'd also like to join. I've contacted Romaine about getting our Upload Wizard campaign page up, and I've also expanded our homepage - if you have any suggestions or changes to make, please do so! ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 19:21, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Please cc me in your communications with Romaine in the future. He has a very large email backlog and given the deadlines ahead of us, you may not get a response in time. Please make sure you go over this todo list for local organizers (if you already haven't). FYI: Romaine and I are planning to go over all participating countries on August 25 to make sure they are ready for the contest (as much as we can assess). --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 16:37, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
@LilyOfTheWest: Will do, thank you! ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 03:57, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
I just created the upload wizard for Ohio. See for my questions on my talk page. Romaine (talk) 22:39, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Why isn't Sri Lanka on the list?[edit]

Hi, I was hoping to participate in the competition and noticed Sri Lanka is not on the list. Can it be added?

Hi. Every country can participate in the contest as long as there are volunteers who organize the contest for the country. If you know anyone from/in Sri Lanka who may be interested to organize the contest (how about yourself?:), please reach out to them and direct them to this page. The time is tight, so unless a group is formed quickly, the country can miss this year's contest. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 16:39, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
HI Shihaamh, to be able to organise a photo contest in a country, there has to be someone who organises it locally. If you can organise it, we are happy to support you! Romaine (talk) 22:41, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Upload wizard wlm-us-ca says the country does not participate this year.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:53, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Ymblanter, thanks for the note. Romaine is working on the US case, as it's a bit complicated. --LilyOfTheWest (talk) 16:58, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
