Summary[edit]
DescriptionBannfoot Ferry (West) - geograph.org.uk - 568703.jpg |
English: Bannfoot Ferry (West) Looking east from the west bank, the road here ends abruptly, was the bridge washed away? The reality was there never was one here - the stone structures on the east bank aren't bridge supports, but a landing stage. A rope was permanently strung between the two banks, and a large floating wooden platform was pulled across the River Bann to the distant bank by the ferryman. There was no evidence of the original ferry, but the small boat on the right appears to do the task today. The actual distance to the far bank NOT using the ferry is 22 km. |
