File:Oxfam East Africa - Faraah with her family.jpg
Faraah is seven years old, and her name means happiness. She lives in the small village of Kulaley, which is home to 300 families. Nearly half of them arrived here in the last three months. There’s been no rain for two years and the shallow wells have been dry for five years.
Oxfam partner WASDA is working here - they did an emergency destocking in March, which means they bought about 100 goats at a decent market price, slaughtered them and gave the meat back to the community, so that people get both money and food. WASDA also distributes food here monthly along with the World Food Programme (WFP) - but so far there is only enough for 40% of the village.
