Церковь во имя святых мучеников Флора и Лавра была известна еще в начале XVII века. Настоящая каменная церковь строилась с 1772 по 1779 гг. Святые мученики Флор и Лавр в России считались покровителями коневодства, поэтому в храмовый праздник, 18 августа (по старому стилю), у церкви собиралось множество извозчиских пролеток и мужицких подвод - происходило освящение лошадей.
