ไทย: ดอยอินทนนท์ อดีตกาลก่อนป่าไม้ทางภาคเหนืออยู่ในความควบคุมของเจ้าผู้ครองนครต่าง ๆ สมัยพระเจ้าอินทวิชยานนท์ เจ้าผู้ครองนครเชียงใหม่ (องค์สุดท้าย) พระองค์ให้ความสำคัญกับป่าไม้อย่างมาก โดยเฉพาะป่าในบริเวณดอยหลวง ทรงรับสั่งว่า หากสิ้นพระชนม์ลงให้นำอัฐิบางส่วนขึ้นไปสร้างสถูปบรรจุไว้บนดอย ดอยนี้จึงมีนามเรียกขานว่า "ดอยอินทนนท์" แต่มีข้อมูล บางกระแสกล่าวว่า ที่ดอยหลวงเรียกว่า ดอยอินทนนท์ นั้น เป็นเพราะเนื่องจากว่าเป็นการให้เกียรติ เจ้าผู้ครองนคร จึงตั้งชื่อจากคำว่า "ดอยหลวง" ซึ่งเป็นชื่อที่มีความซ้ำกับดอยหลวง ของอำเภอเชียงดาว แต่ภายหลังมีชาวเยอรมัน มาทำการสำรวจและวัด ซึ่งปรากฎผลว่า ดอยหลวง หรือดอยอ่างกา ที่อำเภอแม่แจ่มมีความสูงกว่า ดอยหลวง ของอำเภอเชียงดาว จึงเปลี่ยนชื่อใหม่ เพื่อไม่ให้มีความซ้ำซ้อนกัน และเรียกดอยแห่งนี้ว่า "ดอยอินทนนท์"
