Description0017- "A Critical Appraisal of the Right of Inheritance of Children Born Out of Wedlock" by Michael Akpa Ajanwachuku (2016) - Amicus Lectio (IA amicus lectio 0017).mp3 |
What rights does a child have to their father's estate after his death? In Nigerian law, this depends entirely on one's relationship to their father, namely blood relation. Children born outside the father's marriage are excluded entirely from Nigerian inheritance by default, barring an acknowledgement of paternity by the father while he was alive. However, this has changed, in recent decades, with increasing recognition of alternative forms of paternity verification. The Paper by Michael Akpa Ajanwachuku.
