Description

The Earth has a magnetic field similar to a bar magnet’s magnetic field, but much larger that reaches far out into space. The area of space around the Earth that is controlled by its magnetic field is called its magnetosphere.

The image was created for a <a href="http://www.scitechlab.com/" rel="nofollow">www.scitechlab.com/</a> blog post on the <a href="http://scitechlab.wordpress.com/2008/09/01/the-auroras-or-northern-polar-lights/" rel="nofollow">Northern Lights</a>.
