Title
12th century buckle, incomplete
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy medieval swivel, the main body of the swivel is misson, only a loop remains

It is a 'D' in shape, the straight back being formed by a 1.75mm wide axis bar, now broken. Either end of this projects from the mouth of a dog.
The dogs have a roughly triangular nose with rounded triangular head behind it, a much smaller triangular ear projecting slightly outwards to the side. A groove runs along the centre of the head, the eye on each side being defined by two curving grooves.
The frame extends from the back of the dogs' heads. It is triangular in section and 5mm tall behind the heads, narrowing to 3.5mm tall at the centre. Its width is 4mm at either end and 3.5mm at the centre. There is evidence of iron staining on one half of the buckle.

Measures 18x23.5mm (internal 11x10.5mm) and weighs 6.36g.
