GULF OF ADEN (May 14, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Elliot Salgado signals an MV-22 Osprey from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 166 (Reinforced) to land on the flight deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) while Pfc. Thomas Dunne and Lance Cpl. Roberto Hernandez stand by to chock and chain the aircraft to the deck once it lands. New Orleans is part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
