| Description |
It was an all new car for 1941, a wider body that nearly covered the running boards, the front fenders more integrated and the headlights moved right forward. The grille on the 1941 car had a tall centre section with a kidney shaped section either side. For 1942, the grille was quite different, a more traditional look, it looked like an electric shaver. Tail lights were moved from vertical to horizontal. Production on the 1942 Ford only lasted a few months, before all efforts were focused on the war. Some of these 1942 models were sold to the military for next 3 years. Civilian production resumed in July 1945. The 1945 Ford was identical to the 1942 model under the skin, though it got a new grille with horizontal bars and red accents. This shape carried on until the end of 1948. Models available; Special, Deluxe and Super Deluxe. The 1941-48 Ford was also produced in Australia in V8 Sedan and unique to Australia, the Coupe Utility. Engines; 226 cu in L head 6 cyl or 221 Flathead V8 |
