| Description |
Seen at the famous Auto Collection at The Quad (formerly Imperial Palace), Las Vegas. A fairly late example of the ultimate 1980s land yacht. When General Motors switched nearly all its models to FWD in 1985 (including almost all Cadillacs), the Brougham, which retained its older RWD platform and body, became the last RWD Cadillac. This example, with 33,000 miles on it but not for sale, comes with a 5.7L V8 good for 175 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, 4-speed automatic transmission, and just about every luxury feature available in its day such as cruise control and automatic climate control. The Brougham was redesigned and modernized in 1993 as the Fleetwood, but was discontinued in 1996 when General Motors killed all its RWD land yachts. Since then, Cadillac's RWD offerings have instead been smaller European-style performance models, starting with the 2001 CTS. |
