English: First Nebraska volunteers, Company B, Spanish American War
This photo is of the regiment of the First en:Nebraska volunteers, company B, serving the en:United States in the en:Spanish-American war. The photo was taken in en:1899. I believe this photo was taken at Camp Merritt, en:San Francisco (I think this was in what is now en:Golden Gate Park). The following quote is from "Officers and Members of the First Nebraska Regiment in San Francisco" The Wave War Series No. 3 Vol.1 July 9, 1898, and was found in the same photo album: "The 1st Nebraska had the honor of being the vanguard of the eastern troops mobilized in San Francisco that was to constitute the army of invasion of the Philippines." My great-grandfather George W. Snider is the one lying down in the front. This photo is from my grandfather's photo album. Although my great-grandfather served in this war, I do not believe he ever made it to en:Manila, en:Philippines, where the other two photos I've posted were taken.
