| Description |
English: The 2011 National Christmas Tree and state trees on the Ellipse in the President's Park south of the White House on Thursday December 1, 2011, in Washington, D.C., in the United States. The U.S. Department of Commerce building can be seen in the background. It was planted on March 19, 2011, after the previous tree was felled in high winds on February 19, 2011.
This tree died on May 5, 2012, and was cut down after Nationial Park Service officials said it died of "transplant shock", an exceptionally warm summer of 2011, and an exceptionally warm winter of 2011-2012. |
