EXTRACT DNA FROM LIVING CELLS (The white booger looking blob is the DNA of the strawberry).

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Lysis buffer breaks down the lipid cell membranes and makes the strawberry's cells pop so the DNA can be released. The lysis buffer and broken down strawberry mixture/juice is added to ice cold isopropyl 90 proof in a glass. DNA does not dissolve in alcohol, so it will rise above the solution. The white booger looking blob is the DNA of the strawberry. I put on some gloves and picked up the DNA blob to inspect further. It was stringy and web like. It also reminded me of paper pulp. I was able to roll it into a tiny ball. Super cool science!!
