Description
English: 330-PS-6530a: US Navy Carrier USS Franklin B. Roosevelt Rounds Cape Horn. With the carrier too big for the Panama Canal, she is on a cruise around Cape Horn from Norfolk to Bremerton, Washington, there she will enter the Navy Yard for modernization. General Manuel A. Odria, President of Peru, visited the aircraft carrier during the ship’s visit at Lima, February 10-14, 1954. In this picture taken on the flight deck are (left to right), front row: Admiral M. Saldias, Peruvian Naval Minister; General Ordia; Captain J.S. Thatch, Commanding Officer of the carrier; Lieutenant A. M. Martinas, one of the Peruvian Navy, and Commander D.M. Minner, Executive Officer of the U.S. Navy carrier. (4/7/2015).
