Summary[edit]

Description 330-PSA-149-62 (USN 711092): A new oceanographic research vessel – Floating Instrument Platform (FLIP), has been constructed for the Marine Physical Laboratory of Scripps Institution of Oceanography under contract to the Office of Naval Research. The “Four Story” bow section shown in this artist’s conception remains above the water when the craft is flipped to a vertical position. Photograph released June 22, 1962. (10/6/2015).
