[edit]
Description
English: 330-PS-9143 (USN 710242). The first Regulus II Missile to be fired from a submarine is moved into its hangar on deck of USS Grayback (SSN 574) in preparation for firing. The missile, built by Chance Vought aircraft, was fired from sea to Edwards Air Force Base, California. In the first test of its capability of being fired from submarines at sea against inland targets, Regulus II was flown some 200 miles. Its wings and rudder can be folded to facilitate its storage in the submarine hangar. A supersonic missile, the Regulus II flies at speeds greater than Mach 2, September 18, 1958. (11/5/2014).
