| Description |
English: Commercial buildings on the 400 block (north side) of I Street NW in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The white and blue building is the former Central Auto Works, located at 443-451 I Street. It was built in phases between 1912 and 1930 by William Beuchert. The Second Empire style former row houses next to it (453-455 I Street, the Wyess-Herman House) were built in 1874 by John E. Wyess, and 1883 by a local architect, respectively. The three buildings are designated as contributing properties to the Mount Vernon Triangle Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. The industrial building on the left, 459 I Street, was completed in 1949 and is a non-contributing property to the historic district. |
