  • Italiano: La direttrice del Museo del papiro a Siracusa mostra personalmente il metodo di fabbricazione della carta di papiro. Nella sequenza di immagini si vede come il fusto di papiro giovane sia scortecciato e tagliato a striscioline, che sono poi stese in parallelo con un piccolo margine di sovrapposizione. La collosità del materiale permette in questo modo l'adesione tra i frammenti senza bisogno di colle. Dopo avere steso uno strato parallelo ed un secondo strato perpendicolare, il tutto viene pressato da un rullo o da una pressa, e poi asciugato e rifilato. Le ultime tre immagini ritraggono il foglio risultante, che in controluce mostra le venature del fusto della pianta, che negli antichi papiri costituivano il "recto" ed il "verso".   • English: The director of the Papyrus museum in Syracuse, Italy, personally demonstrates the method used in ancient times to create papyrus paper (the name "paper" itself comes from "papyrus"). In the set of images it is shown how the young papyrus trunk is cut into stripes, which will stick together thanks to the sticky nature of the pulp. One parallel layer of strips is created, then a second one, perpendicular above the first one. A stone roll or a press squeezes the paper, which is then dried. The last three images show the result, in which are evident the perpendicular orientation of the naturally occurring strips between the "recto" and the "verso" of the sheet.
