Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_90280_DSC01886.JPG Notes: מנזר המצלבה שוכן בעמק המצלבה בירושלים, מבנה המנזר הנראה נבנה במאה ה-11 על בסיס מבנה מהתקופה הביזנטית שנבנה במאה ה 6. המנזר והכנסייה הם מהמבנים הבודדים ששרדו בירושלים בשלמותם מימי הביניים. שמם של המנזר והכנסייה קשור למסורת הנוצרית שלפיה במקום גדל העץ שממנו הכינו הרומאים את הצלב עליו נצלב ישו. המנזר נמצא בבעלות הכנסייה היוונית אורתודוקסית. בעת שלטון הצלבנים בארץ ישראל נזירים גאורגים רבים התגוררו בו, ובהם גם שותא רוסתוולי המשורר הלאומי של גאורגיה ופה כתב את הפואמה "עוטה עור הנמר" (ויקיפדיה)
