Description

A U.S. Navy Douglas A-4C Skyhawk (BuNo 149509) from Attack Squadron 192 (VA-192) "Dambusters" after a barrier landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31). VA-196 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 19 (CVW-19) aboard the Bon Homme Richard for a deployment to Vietnam from 21 April 1965 to 13 January 1966.

The aircraft was repaired and later served with VA-94, CVW-5, aboard USS Hancock (CVA-19). It was shot down by a surface-to-air-missile over North Vietnam on 10 May 1967. The pilot was killed.
