Deutsch: Wirbelschleppensimulation für einen Airbus A340 im Endanflug kurz vor der Landebahn. Unter dem Flugzeug ist eine der Plattenreihen dargestellt. Das DLR hat eine weltweit einmalige Methode entwickelt, die Umströmung des Flugzeugs mit dem Aufrollvorgang der Wirbelschleppe, als auch die weitere Entwicklung der Wirbel bis zu ihrem Zerfall zu simulieren. Hier sind die Wirbelschleppen bei ihrer Entstehung noch vor dem Zerfall dargestellt.
English: Wake turbulence simulation for an Airbus A340 on final approach, just before touchdown. Below the aircraft, a 'Plate Line' can be seen. DLR has developed a globally unique method to simulate the flow around the aircraft with the creation of vortices, their further development and eventual dissipation. Here, the vortices are shown during their formation – prior to decay.
