| Description |
English: A50 bridge across the Trent and Mersey Canal, Derbyshire. This 1997 bridge near Shardlow, built during the final linking stage of the A50 replacement for the old A6 (originally M64 idea) around Derby to the M1, carries six lanes and was opened soon after the turn of the century. Old Mr Hicken, whose name was attached to the original 18th century farmer's track bridge would be surprised that some maps still have his name on this crossing, and it has also inherited the original No 4 on the canal system. Now, has anyone got a pre 1997 picture of this site to submit? I'm searching my archive. |
