Italiano: Il termine New Media Art abbraccia una vasta gamma di generi nati tra gli anni Sessanta e la metà del decennio scorso, la cui compenetrazione tecnologica ha condotto alla complessa natura degli odierni linguaggi multimediali. Nonostante il progresso dell’elettronica digitale abbia accomunato la rapida evoluzione di questi generi, in essi è possibile rintracciare prassi strumentali e codici specifici, caratterizzati da origini e percorsi di sviluppo comuni (come, ad esempio, per la performative art e l’interactive art), o da tradizioni e contesti sociali distanti (come, ad esempio, per l’hack art e la device art).
