A Short Description of King Midas And the Golden Touch

Summary[edit]

Description
English: One of the most well-known myths in western lore is King Midas and the Golden Touch. It describes the tale of one man's collapse due to his greed and hunger for fortune. The legend of King Midas is based on the tragedy of avarice, and it tells the story of what occurs when true joy is disregarded. Midas was a man who wished that he could transform everything he touched into gold. He had not considered, however, that this wish was a curse rather than a gift. His gluttony prompts us to consider and think through the consequences of becoming slaves to our desire. The expression "the Midas touch" is derived from this tale and is used to express great blessings.
