uterine, obturator, hypogastric, lumbar,sacral, and inguinal. It is interesting to note that the lymphaticducts of the lower fourth of the vagina terminate in the inguinalglands. The enlargement, inflammation, and suppuration of theinguinal glands, therefore, indicate infection of the parturient outlet. The nerves of the generative organs are derived from thespinal and the sympathetic systems. The sexual processes,however, of ovulation and of menstruation and the action of theuterine muscle in labor are controlled by the sympathetic nerves,derived mainly from the hypogastric and ovarian plexuses. Theclinical observation that paralysis of the spinal nerves supplying-the pelvic organs in nowise interferes with gestation and labor,and the experiments on bitches of resecting the lumbar cord and.seeing the animals exhibit rut, become gravid, and bear pups,,show what a subordinate part the spinal nerves play in the sexuaLprocesses of the female.
