Description

A hotel I stayed in San Francisco has a small museum. And I liked the typwriter at the museium. I always love old gadgets. As I see the typewriter, I realized key "1" and "$" is missing. I checked up ROYAL if it is a British company as I see a £ key, but it turned out ROYAL is an American company which is found in New York City. Any idea on why this typewriter don't have key "1" and "$"?

私がサンフランシスコで泊まったホテルにはホテルの歴史に関するものを展示した小さなギャラリーがあります。古い機械が大好きな私は、そこに展示されていたタイプライターを気に入ったわけですが、どういうわけか数字の1キーと、ドルマークが見当たりませんでした。英国ポンドのマークはあるのでメーカー名らしいROYALは英国のメーカーかと思って後で調べてみると、ニューヨークで企業したメーカーだということがわかり、ますます謎は深まるばかりです。もし、この謎を知っている方がいましたら、ぜひ教えてください！
