Summary[edit]
DescriptionAberdare (High Level) railway station (site), Mid Glamorgan, 2000 - geograph.org.uk - 3305926.jpg |
English: Aberdare (High Level) railway station (site), Mid Glamorgan, 2000. Opened in 1851 by the Vale of Neath Railway on the line from Swansea to Pontypool Road, this station closed in 1964. View south east towards the new station, built slightly further south. When the line to Abercynon and Cardiff reopened, it used this portion of the Vale of Neath Railway as far as Cwmbach, then swings right to join what was the Taff Vale Railway's line from Aberdare (Low Level) southwards to Abercynon. When this image was taken, the old station still had its canopy. |
