In this instance these Cabinet signershad the good sense not to send their protest to Mr.Lincoln. Still a third when Stanton made anorder giving Bishop Ames control of the Methodistchurches which had fallen into our hands in theSouth, in plain violation of a prior letter from thePresident that the Government must not under-take to run the churches.
